Abbotts work exclusively with Insolvency Practitioners (“IPs”) licensed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (“ICAEW”) or the Insolvency Practitioners Association (“IPA”). Abbotts provide advice only after completing or receiving an initial fact find where the individual concerned meets the criteria for an IVA, therefore, all advice is given in reasonable contemplation of an insolvency appointment.
We do not administer or provide advice solely relating to debt management products, such as Debt Management Plans. We do not currently offer advice relating to Scottish Insolvency Solutions such a Protected Trust Deeds, Debt Arrangement Schemes or Sequestration.
Upon completion of a fact find, should you not appear suitable for an IVA, you will be signposted a suitable service provider, the free sector or the Money Advice Service for the appropriate help & advice.

The Money Helper is an impartial service set up by the Government. They provide free debt counselling, debt adjustment and credit information services.

All IPs are required to comply with the Insolvency Code of Ethics and a copy of the Code can be found at www.icaew.com.
Rules Governing Actions
All IPs are bound by the rules of their professional body, including any that relate specifically to insolvency. The rules of the professional body that licenses Abbotts IPs can be found at insolvency-practitioners.org.uk; In addition, IPs are bound by the Statements of Insolvency Practice (SIPs), details of which can be found at icaew.com
